The Court of Appeal in Abuja yesterday nullified the election of Senate
Minority leader Godswill Akpabio as the Senator representing Ikot Ekpene
Senatorial District in the Senate. The Court of Appeal in its ruling
said their judgement was based on the violations of the Electoral Act
during the senatorial election between Mr. Akpabio and the APC candidate
Inibehe Okori. The court ordered a rerun election within 90 days.
In a related development, the Court of Appeal in Abuja also nullified the election of Senator George Sekibo representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the Senate.
